Gameboy Color and Nintendo 3ds Cassettes?

I still have a Gameboy Color and I still play Pokemon (although I'm 28 now). I would like to get the newer Nintendo types, like Nintendo 3DS or something. My question would be here: can one play with the older Gameboy cassettes also the new Nintendos?

You can't put the old gameboy cassettes in the newer consoles. But there are newer / digital versions of most gameboy games that you can play on the consoles. On the 3ds you can z. B Repeat the old Pokémon parts.

Understand.

In the 3ds, some Gameboy and Gameboy Color games can be bought in the Eshop, which then run via a built-in emulator (Virtual Console) from the original module, but playing does not work.

Also available are NES, SNES and Game Gear games, but the SNES games are only available for New3ds models.

DS games run natively from the original module as long as they do not need any additional hardware for the GBA slot that the DS and the DS Lite still had.

DSi Ware can be purchased in the eShop or transferred from a DSi on which they have already been purchased.

For GBA games the 3ds is missing only the slot for the module but purely technically he is quite able to play GBA games without emulation. There's even a built-in solution to load them from file but Nintendo just does not want to unlock the files for purchase.

Omg are the many infos.
