I have often asked myself whether I'm a gamer girl.
I mainly play Nintendo and very rarely Fortnite. In Mario Kart I'm better than most of my friends and in Smash too. However, I don't play real shooters because I'm really bad at that.
Now the question arises whether this is enough to be able to call yourself a gamer or not.
I always thought that playing games on a console and being good at one thing or another was enough. However, once a girl, when I called myself a gamer, said to me that I wasn't one, because I don't play "real" games (something like CoD and other well-known shooters, maybe something like WoW and LoL).
Accordingly, I'm now wondering whether I can call myself a gamer girl without being insulted by everyone because I do not know / know what constitutes a gamer girl?
Since in my opinion it is not a really defined term, you can call yourself that, but I personally would not say that you are a "gamer". As already mentioned, there's no clear definition of when one should "call" a "gamer" or "may". Only I wouldn't call you that, since you hardly play PC or real consoles. And according to your question I would not say that you play much more than 1 hour a day so to get to the point, no I would not call you a "gamer". You play a few games now and then and are theoretically a "gamer" but you don't fulfill the cliché "gamer girl" that one imagines.
A gamer is someone who plays video games. It doesn't matter whether you prefer to play shooter or Mario Kart. Besides, I would rather call someone a gamer who plays the games you mentioned than someone who plays a shooter.
So for me, everyone who plays games regularly and frequently, regardless of the genre, is a gamer. I would also call myself a gamer, although I tend to play quiet games like Stardew Valley, Pokémon and Animal Crossing.
The term "gamer" does not only refer to shooters, MMORPG's - so yes, you can confidently call yourself a gamer. Just ignore the people who consider themselves the greatest and don't accept that there are gamers in every genre. They are just as good gamers as others.
For me, everyone who plays a computer or tablet on a console is a gamer or A gamer.
Don't let anything else tell you and have fun playing brim.
I'm not very interested in online PvP games. Nevertheless, nobody in my circle of friends would dare to question my "gamer status".
A gamer is simply someone who likes to gamble with a certain regularity. It doesn't have to be at least three hours a day.
And whoever claims CoD / WoW / LoL / etc. Be the only "real games" that I wouldn't take seriously as a gamer. Don't let a single gatekeeper unsettle you.
