Minecraft Nintendo Switch: why don't my turtles lay eggs?

I wanted to pair my turtles today. I gave birth to them on sand, I paired them with seaweed, one is bigger but an egg? Nope! Nothing came. Does anyone know why? Please report!

It is most likely because you have to go where your eggs were. Then they put some. With the Enchantment Gentleness you can take the eggs and place them with you.

Doesn't happen they just don't go anywhere
