I read that the sin against the holy spirit is only committed when you have done something with an evil heart and are clearly lost on the path and do not want to go back or something like that
My question is now a few years ago when I was younger and played ps4, I freaked out more often 😅 but once it was so great that I unfortunately offended God for whatever reason and I'm really worried that I'm sin committed against the Holy Spirit
Did I commit it with it?
If you want to learn something about people and religion, then read the book "homo deus".
XD don't worry. You're worried, that's the first step. If it is clear to you in your head that that was wrong, because it is not responsible for your losing gambling, then everything is fine. You can also apologize for it in prayer. Don't have to recite a novel now, just speak from your heart that you are sorry and good.
This unforgivable sin is nothing more than the rejection of the Holy Spirit.
If you believe in God, even in Jesus and that he died for the sins on the cross, but do not accept the Holy Spirit in you so that he can dwell in you, then that is the sin against the spirit.
Because only he who has the spirit dwelling in him is a true child of God.
https://www.bibleserver.com/LUT/Johannes1%2C12 How many welcomed him, to whom he gave power to become God's children: to those who believe in his name,
He is the seal with which we're sealed on the day of judgment
https://www.bibleserver.com/LUT/Epheser4%2C30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God with whom you are sealed for the day of salvation.
Because without the Holy Spirit, eternal life is impossible and therefore no forgiveness.
So whoever has to come before God without the seal of the Spirit is not protected from the judgment of God by the blood of Jesus and has to answer not only for your little bit of gambling, but also for every other wrong word, every other wrong attitude, for everyone other wrong deed.
Religion does not protect against God's judgment.
Jesus alone can save you from him.
No, you don't have to be afraid!
The sin that will not be forgiven is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, attributing the miracles performed by Christ to the power of Satan (Matthew 12:31, 32). The Pharisees knew very well that Jesus drove out evil spirits by the Spirit of God. But against their better judgment they blasphemously called the Holy Spirit "Beelzebub" (Matthew 12:24, 27). This sin, as the Lord says, could not be forgiven.
The question is whether it can still be committed today. Many think "no" because there are no longer effects of the Holy Spirit in such convincing power as in those days. In any case, the circumstances must be quite extraordinary.
The Bible Commentary by Dr. John Walvoord to Matthew 12: 30-37 also answers this question with "no": "The people were in the process of wrongly ascribing the power of the Holy Spirit, which determined Jesus' actions, to Satan and thereby sinning against the spirit and blaspheming him This sin can no longer be committed in this form today, it was kindled by Jesus' bodily presence on earth and by the miracles that he performed through the power of the Spirit, if now the religious leaders of the Jews who acted for the people, came to the final verdict that Jesus' power came from Satan, then committed a sin that would never be forgiven either to the people or to the individual (neither in this world nor in that world). As a consequence of this failure, God's judgment would be upon them whole nation and every single one who stuck to this wrong belief. "
The unforgivable sin against the Holy Spirit is a collective sin that the people of Israel committed about 2000 years ago, but which can't be committed now.
This sin was the national rejection of Jesus as Messiah on the basis of attributing the miracles that Jesus performed through the Holy Spirit to Satan.
This also accused Jesus of being possessed by Satan.
Had this sin not been committed, Jesus would have established his kingdom by then. Now Jesus will establish his kingdom when the people of Israel collectively recognize Jesus as the Messiah and ask him to save them. Then he will come and smash their enemies and establish his kingdom. From Jerusalem he will rule the world.
So the unforgivable sin against the Holy Spirit has a few peculiarities:
It is a national sin, not an individual sin.
It could only be committed when Jesus was bodily on earth.
It could only be committed by the people of Israel, since other nations were not made the offer to accept him as Messiah.
Hmm… But that is forgivable, because everyone who does not accept God as God and worships God rejects the Holy Spirit. But then one can come to believe in God and get the Holy Spirit.
This is done in https://www.bibleserver.com/SLT/1.Johannes1%2C9
But when we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all injustice.
So any sin can be forgiven a person.
What do you get an answer to
Don't forget that the statement you are quoting here was written to Christians who believed in the gospel like the apostles sermon.
There are also other statements where, for example, Jesus himself said that many were convinced that they belonged to Christ cast out demons and preached the gospel, but they received no forgiveness in court
Then also the statement of the Apostle Paul about those who preach the Gospel for the most varied of motives.
There are also teachings among the evangelical communities that are inspired by demons.
Therefore, you should research what gospel you are taught.
as a hint, research everything that has to do with the new covenant.
And then there's also an important note in the letters of John.
Can you explain the gospel
Do you recognize the connections between the Old and New Testaments regardless of whether you have experienced it through others?
do you experience that others teach something that you have already recognized yourself?
You can hear that from Pierrot Fey or Maria Prean.
Do not be irritated by comments about them, check for yourself.
for whoever is in Christ understands everything.
Understanding means being able to recognize and show connections.
Can you do that
If not, you have a problem.
Because what did Jesus say?
You can't do anything without me.
So do not understand either.
Just show and explain the connections.
You will only parrot and tell or write truths.
But not the why nor can explain what for.
Without you saying it to others.
Don't forget that the statement you are quoting here was written to Christians who believed in the gospel like the apostles sermon.
No, I won't forget that. But it is clearly stated that if they confess, EVERY sin will be forgiven them.
where for example Jesus himself said that many of
Which verses do you mean by that?
Therefore, you should research what gospel you are taught.
It is the gospel given in the Bible.
as a hint, research everything that has to do with the new covenant.
Why? What should I watch out for in your opinion?
And then there's also an important note in the letters of John.
Which one do you mean? I think there are some important things there.
Can you explain the gospel
Yes.
Do you recognize the connections between the Old and New Testaments regardless of whether you have experienced it through others?
I can't ignore what I have learned from others. I can see the connections between AT and NT - at least some of them.
do you experience that others teach something that you have already recognized yourself?
Yes… And also that others teach something that I think is wrong.
You can hear that from Pierrot Fey or Maria Prean.
And what they say I don't have to fade out? Is everything right what you say?
for whoever is in Christ understands everything
hmm… I don't always get that impression.
Can you do that
Yes.
You can't do anything without me.
So do not understand either.
or breathe.
What are you actually getting at?
Would you like me to explain my perspective on sin against the Holy Spirit?
Would you like me to explain my perspective on sin against the Holy Spirit?
I didn't understand this for a long time and heard many explanations and views from people.
But I was never interested in the view of people, but rather in God's.
I think that what I have described is God's point of view, because I only understood this after many years of being a Christian.
as a hint, research everything that has to do with the new covenant.
Why? What should I watch out for in your opinion?
if you research it and have the holy spirit, you will see it.
Therefore, you should research what gospel you are taught.
It is the gospel given in the Bible.
Did you think about it before you answered?
Such answers are usually only given by hollow talkers without understanding.
But I'll be happy to give you another chance, because I also know from myself that I sometimes tend to give quick, thoughtless answers.
I didn't understand this for a long time
I do believe you!
But I was never interested in the view of people, but rather in God's.
That is good - and it is probably the same for many. But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't listen to what others say!
I think that what I have described is God's perspective
This is typical for religious people.
if you research it and have the holy spirit, you will see it.
Sorry, that's too general for me.
Did you think about it before you answered?
Sure, of course.
Such answers are usually only given by hollow talkers without understanding.
Oops… Have we come to blanket insults?
But I would be happy to give you another chance
Why are you giving me a chance that I wouldn't have without you?
Your comment seems quite arrogant to me.
You mean you already know everything. Ok - and yet Paul said: Test everything and keep what is good.
Now I'm relieved, thank you.
Thank you for the "star", best regards and God's blessing!
Yes, don't be afraid that you might have committed this sin!
I would like to add a few more thoughts on this topic:
The messianic Jew Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum is of the opinion that historically this sin happened once (when the Jews ascribed the miracles of Jesus to the devil) and was punished with the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in AD 70 by the Romans under Titus. That makes a lot of sense. We read that some Pharisees came to believe after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. It could also have been some of those who previously rejected Jesus. They have of course been forgiven, they will see eternal life in God's glory. But as a whole people Israel met the punishment that was unforgivable because of the sin against the Holy Spirit: destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple.
I tend to interpret Fruchtenbaum because, according to the Bible, God forgives us our personal sins when we ask him. So this interpretation fits the context of the Bible quite well.
But Walvoord's interpretation also shows that the "sin against the Holy Spirit" can actually no longer be committed today.
Read through the following article, which in my opinion is highly recommended on the question: https://www.gesunde-gemeinden.de/artikel/die-suende-gegen-den-heiligen-geist/
