For a few days now, Dead by Daylight has been showing error messages on PS4. Often there are a few rounds to play, but then these messages come back. E.g. "ERROR The connection to the host could not be established. Please try again."
Tried to reinstall the game. I also noticed that mobile hotspots work without any problems. Since I'm on NAT type 2, I think it is due to NAT type 3 in the WLAN.
But it always had NAT type 3 and it always worked without any problems.
I followed these instructions: https://www.netzwelt.de/...geschaltet and enabled the ports. But I'm still on NAT type 3 …
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be causing these error messages. Or why NAT type 2 does not work?
It might also be related to carrier grade NAT. Unfortunately, more and more Internet providers are doing this in order to save IP addresses. I would actually have expected the PS4 to be prepared for this problem and able to handle it.
If the cause is in your LAN, you can avoid the whole problem with port sharing by defining your PS4 in the Fritzbox as "Exposed Host". Then you don't need any port forwarding at all, because then all data packets go directly to your PS4. The disadvantage is that the data packets of possible attackers from the Internet then also go to your PS4. But one should actually assume that this is automatically updated to the extent that it should not have any known security holes. Do you have to think about whether you like this option.
Yes, I've already tried the exposed host. But it doesn't work either. I hope I did everything right, but under "Approvals" it says "Exposed Host" So it must have worked. (I would insert a picture at this point, but don't know how to do it xD) But the Nat type is still the same.
Are IPv4 and IPv6 both active? Which provider are you with?
It may also be worth calling the provider and asking that you want to switch off the carrier grade NAT (also known as "Dual Stack Lite" depending on the provider) for your connection. Something like that doesn't cost extra, but they only do it when requested. When I got it through with my provider at the time, my main problem was getting a customer service representative on the phone who was able to understand what I was talking about.
In the end I got one of them over the phone to uncheck "Dual Stack Lite" on his screen when I connected. He did this blindly at my request, without knowing what he was doing and what it technically meant (even if I had made every effort to explain it to him beforehand and passed it on from pillar to post).
Without Carrier Grade NAT, I'm pretty sure that your NAT type would go up at least one number.
I'll try My problem is rather that I live in Italy and logically am with an Italian provider, "EOLO". Can't stop Italian himself so well and hope they understand what I mean xD.
