Are there differences in Minecraft between the different platforms?

can one do more in one version?

Or are those of the same functionality?

When talking about Bedrock and Java Edition, they are different in scope.

In the Java version one has a wider range of possibilities through mods and rather servers.

Also, maps, skins and texture packs are free, not like under Bedrock.

fi

Java version is the most comprehensive. Commands, free skins and such.

Well, you have to differentiate;

Bedrock Version:

tablet
Smartphone
Console

Java Edition (PC):

Pure for the PC and the most common version and in scope with many possibilities; Mods, shaders, mod-packs, various mod-launcher etc. And well over 330,000 online servers.

Windows 10 Edition (PC):

With this one can play by PC on only on the Bedrock version not on the usual Java version (servers). Here, Mojang or Microsoft has made use of the ignorance of the people for their own sales advantage, because on the side of the difference between the versions is often not recognizable to a layman and some have accidentally acquired the wrong version.

So you can play with the WIN10 App Minecraft together with buddies via smartphone, tablet and switch (I mean) together. Or just Console with each other (Xbox / PS4 etc) the other way round only the Java version (PC) version. This has the most variants and modifications, such as FeedTheBeast, Technic, Life in the Woods etc. You can make various modifications yourself; ShaderMods, etc. Just look on YouTube or ask Google with the keywords.
