Samsung Galaxy S8 headphones on PC?

How can I get the mic to work? I have already tried to plug the headset into the micro connector, as well as via an Xbox controller, which to my knowledge has a combi jack connection. I also bought an https://www.saturn.de/...+soundcard now, but it doesn't work either.

The headset only has a jack connector, in order to use it on the PC you need a Y-cable, something like:

Your problem is that there are 2 different standards for the combination jack plugs:

If you count from the top, i.e. Tip, 1st ring, 2, ring and shaft, there are the assignments:

OMTP assignment:

Tip = left headphone = white, white chinch socket

Ring, right headphone, red wire…
Ring, microphone and plus supply voltage for the microphone

Shaft = mass

and unfortunately also CTIA allocation:

Tip = left headphone = white, white chinch socket

Ring, right headphone, red wire…
Ring, mass

There are so-called splitter cables for both assignments, which split the 4-pin jack plug into 2 separate ones (light green for headphones and ro for microphone, e.g.

for OMTP: https://www.kabelprofishop.de/kabel/klinke-zu-klinke/y-adapterkabel/nfl14046/inline-audio-headset-adapterkabel-2x-3-5mm-klinke-stecker-an-3-5mm-klinke-buchse-4pol.-omtp-0-15m?sPartner=billiger

or adapter, convert OMTP to CTIA assignment (and vice versa):

The USB sound cards are usually intended for separate headset plugs, i.e. 2 times only 3-pin jack

They were only meant as examples, after which it should be possible to find better ones.
