Minecraft crossplay? - 2

So me and my girlfriend wanted to play Minecraft because it supposedly has crossplay. It plays on ps4 but on xbox. I heard that you should create a Microsoft acc and we have to add each other so that you can join, right? Would be helpful if someone gave a link to the yt video or explained it themselves.
