What could be the problem?

I bought a Bluetooth jack adapter because I want to connect my Airpods to my XBox, but something doesn't work. I understood it to mean that I have to connect the part to my XBox, then my cell phone to the part and then my AirPods to my cell phone to hear the sound. However, something is not working. I can connect my Habdy to the part and also the Airpofs to my cell phone but the sound still comes from the speakers of the TV and not from my headphones. To me it looks like you have to connect the Airpods directly to the adapter, but that is probably not possible.

Yes, how could I connect them directly? I think that wouldn't work because I logically don't have a screen on the adapter Ka where I could select the Airpods
