I don't have an X Box controller but I use a Switch Pro controller. Do you play on steam Before I could use the controller, I had to connect to Steam. The best way to do this is to use the Big Picture mode, then go to Settings and then to the controller settings. Maybe that helps.

I do not know. Not every game supports controller control. If Minecraft supports this, there should definitely be an option for in the game settings.
