Multiplayer never costs money on the PC ^^. So you don't need Xbox Live Gold.
You can pay for it with Xbox credit.

Yes. I also top up the credit as needed. But from the second month onwards it is 4 euro and not 3 euro? Then you could play with the 10 euro card for 3 months.
