You rarely find something like this in the PC RPG because you usually only follow one or two predefined paths and you don't really have complete freedom of choice
As a player, you also have to get involved in such a story and this is only possible with longer campaigns. The SL should also know his group very well and be able to play them accordingly.
I recommend you to try a pen and paper, because the story seems more important to you than the drowsy levels and the search for powerful objects.
