Nintendo emulators, why do you use them?

I have recently noticed that well-known YouTuber Nintendo emulators are used like the YouTuber Domtendo with its Paper Mario 4k Textures LetsPlay recently (I can't imagine that the original console supports the quality). Now my question is, how can you afford to use emulators, aren't they illegal? At least a few years ago it was like that, has it changed and how high is the risk of getting caught if even such people use emulators?

Er

Emulators are not illegal per se, just games you don't own to play with them.

ra

And why then do well-known people play the games on them when they are much more likely to get caught?

Fe

Emulators themselves are completely legal. However, there are things that may not be legal (the procurement of the BIOS of the respective system or just the games). However, there are ways to get both games and the BIOS of the original system on your PC. If you only pull things that you have at home onto your PC (i.e. From your own components), then this is 100% legal

Emulators themselves are not illegal. However, it should be difficult to get software for it because backup copies from one medium to another are not allowed. Roms are illegal even if you own the original game. Just because you own a game on Nintendo does not automatically mean that you can also copy it to a PC.

Sounds very interesting, do you know any tutorials for this process?

Fe

You can find it on YouTube. I don't know what Nintendo uses for a disc format, but with PS2 games it's easy with IsoBuster.
With the BIOS I have no idea

Nintendo wants to market itself. They would be really stupid if they deleted a free advertising source.

Hey Using an emulator is not punishable, just downloading Rome. Therefore you should own the game if you emulate it;).

Ri

That means if I have GTA 5 for the xBox, can I download the game for the PC?

Er

Only games you don't own to play with.

DH games you own can also be played on emulators.

Am

If it's the Xbox version, theoretically yes.

Ri

But only if you have made the backup copy yourself. Downloading a copy from the Internet would also be illegal.
