Black masked man on YouTube?

Since I was 8 I wonder what happened. At that time I was looking at my Nintendo 3DS YouTube but it was already evening and I should go to sleep, all of a sudden when I clicked on a new video from some channel (think it was Made My Day) where you saw an Asian child smoking, it did There was a black screen in the middle of the loading process and a man with a black mask popped up and said hello, I was shocked and closed my Nintendo and turned it on again, then deleted the YouTube app and then nothing like that happened to me again (my parents never told me about it because I should sleep). But I wonder why that happened and whether something similar happened to you.

For a while there were videos that specifically wanted to scare people. Some quiet video, preferably something where you should get close to the screen because there was something small, and then there was a screeching face or some grimace. Maybe you saw something like that. So the masked man was guaranteed to be part of the video you started.

I think that was intentional.
