Viva Piñata Pocket Paradise: Got Jeli?

I wanted to play Viva Piñata for the Nintendo DS for a long time now, but I'm now stuck on my last missing Piñata, the "Jeli". I did a lot of research on how to get it, but there are so many different statements. Does anyone know how to really see a Jeli? Is the level really decisive or what do you have in the garden? Or is it really just a coincidence and depending on the game file it is assigned to you or not?

I got the Jeli at level 6. When he comes is completely random. It just has to be at night and you don't get a message when it shows up. He then sneaks around your garden, you have to wait until he has entered your garden (must NOT light it up, otherwise it will disappear again) and then hit it quickly with a shovel. Then he becomes a resident. To get a second Jeli, you have to copy your saved game and send the Jeli from the copied to the original saved game.
