Do Skylander figures intended for another console work on my own?

I have recently slipped down the nostalgic slide again and gambled my old Skylanders games again! At the moment I really enjoy playing, unfortunately the fact that most of my Skylanders gave away, sold or disappeared saddens me, which is why I decided to order new ones on Ebay small ads.

And here my question:

The providers on EbayKleinanzeigen offer Skylanderfiguren, however, for the Wii or the Xbox 360. I own a Playstation 3 and am now not sure whether the figures, which are intended for Wii and Xbox, will work on my console.
