Nintendo Switch Dock - Lying Down?

I wanted to give myself the switch in June for B-Day itself and wanted to inform me ever something.

Now to the question: Can I also operate the dock lying down (if I'm playing TV games)? I'm afraid my dock will go down with Switch.

Can you make the cables come out the side and the connection down is solid enough

Why do you want that? If there's not enough room on the table, use a wall bracket. Also has style in my opinion. (Did you get for less than 10 euro)
