I would like to equip my ps4 pro with liquid metal, I applied nail polish to protect the surrounding contacts and wanted to ask if this is okay as I applied it?
Is the laugh at least heat-resistant?
Normal nail polish from dm was also often used by der8auer for gpus etc.
Yes then up, the less molten metal the better
Okay thanks
Nail polish is certainly not permanently heat-resistant, "liquid metal" whatever that may be (presumably it's the thermal paste), the stuff creeps under the polish over time, and if it conducts electricity, the nail polish will also fail.
Tip: remove nail polish, apply a small amount of thermal paste (very thin film) (so nothing squeezes out of the side…). And make sure that the cooler plan (absolutely flat) is on the processor.
That with the nail polish comes from der8auer who used nail polish quite often for the contacts of gpus and CPUs when he used liquid metal, and everywhere I looked it was recommended that way
Here e.g.
Ok:-) Nail polish is certainly suitable for some things, but not where warmth is involved. If it is already on, make sure that nothing protrudes (that the cooler lies on the processor and the cooler is not mechanically "hindered" by the nail polish. You then have to file off these areas with the nail file. If everything fits, the thermal paste Apply very thinly to the cooler. It works best if you warm the cooler a little (eg on the electric stove (with caution)) the paste can then be applied more easily and very thinly under the heat (Before applying the thermal paste, clean all surfaces again with alcohol) …
