I bought Need for Speed (2012) for steam and now I want to play it with my Ps4 controller. However, when I set the key assignment, I noticed that I had not yet assigned the quick menu. And if you haven't proven that, you won't get any further in the game. And when I try to assign the remaining buttons, he tells me to let go of all buttons. However, I do not express anything, so I strongly assume that my Ps4 controller has a drift. Well. Then I try out my Nintendo switch controller, and when I try to assign these buttons the menu for this pops up for 1 millisecond. I've tried everything, including holding down the enter key, etc. How can I set up my switch controller?
For all games that do not natively support PS4 or Switch controllers, you have to activate the Playstation configuration assistant or the Switch assistant in the general controller settings in Steam. This disguises these controllers as the Xbox controller, which has the best game support.
Outside of Steam, you'll need third-party software like InputMapper for such an emulation.
Only ever use such controller emulators for games that your controllers do not support. Never leave it activated or started in general. Already had games that natively support my PS4 controller, but developed strange behavior with the emulator (360 degree stick only 8 directions, or a few buttons are not recognized until you unplug the controller during the game and plug it in again, or bad key assignments and you get used to a strange control, because sometimes you don't even notice that the manufacturer did not want to have this proven).
