Rocket League crossplay between Switch and PS4?

Since the game Rocket League is free from today, I downloaded it for my Nintendo Switch and would like to play with my friend who owns a PS4. Is that even possible and if so, how do I add him as a friend? All I can do is add an "Epic Friend", but that's about it. Does anyone know?

Yes, there are problems with Epic. You can only add an Epic friend on the Switch, but you don't have an Epic account on the PS4 or I don't know how to connect it.
