Is something definitely mine in the Amazon shopping cart?

I plan to try to get a Ps5 in the next few days. Preferably via Amazon and my question now is: if I put the ps5 in the shopping cart, is it reserved, so to speak, or do you have to be quick there too?

Ev

The shopping cart is only on your computer and is virtual. This is not a reservation.

Only when you pay will it be checked whether the item is available at all.

ga

You buy them when you click buy. If there's one you get it, otherwise you get it if there are any.

Just because it's in your shopping cart doesn't mean it is reserved

Vi

Of course not

Sl

Most online shops reserve an item in the shopping cart for 15 minutes in order to give the customer the opportunity to comfortably complete the purchase.

An item in the shopping cart does not represent a permanent reservation, which would be a logistically impossible challenge for the retailer.

Qu

No, it is not reserved.

Amazon's warehouse requirements would multiply if they had to reserve everything people have in their shopping cart and could not sell it elsewhere.

Ka

Well that's a helpful answer, thank you very much. That means if I manage to put the Playstation into the shopping cart, I don't have to stress myself anymore, right?

Sl

I don't want to give you a guarantee, unfortunately I don't know exactly how Amazon handles it.

There's no prescribed duration that each shop can handle for itself. However, since it should be a significant relief for the digital infrastructure in such a large shop, an article should be reserved for a brief moment when you click on "Add to shopping cart".

There are also shops that do not have any reservations in their shopping cart, which means that the availability is only finally checked when the purchase is made. But these are rather small shops, small in the sense of a smaller customer base.

But I would assume that the article is reserved for at least 15 minutes. If in doubt, you should still try to complete the order quickly.
