Good Open World, Sandbox Survival game?

I'm looking for a game that goes all the way to Fallout 4. So survival elements with zombies, Guhlen or the like in post-apocalyptic setting, open world with sandbox, base building or base improvement, NPCs as a companion; also like animals. Whether for PC or PS4 does not matter.

Okay, it may sound lame but Minecraft, after all, you can do whatever you want to do modding. But otherwise DayZ would still be an option.

I already had DayZ in my head but that's just online. Offline or single player I should have vll still to write.
