Connect 2 devices with a lan?

I have a ps4 and a PC. And I want to connect the two devices with a lan cable. And I have already bought such a distributor where you put the lan cable in what comes from the router and the other end with 2 short lan cables each connecting to the PC and to the ps4, but if I have now connected both, I have both no LAN connection if I unplug ps4 I have back on PC only but I want… If it was something like this:

Router lan cable >> to the device in question >> to PC and ps4 >> both connected to lan at the same time

Sh

What is the product name of the "distributor"?

If only one of the two devices is connected, does the internet work without any problems?

ti

If the "distributor" is a switch or, hardly to be found today, a hub, you have everything you need. You have a DHCP server in the router and now you only have to plug one cable from the router into the switch / "distributor" and then one cable from the switch / "distributor" to the PC and the Playstation. Then you look at the IP addresses of the two devices and can reach them at these addresses.

Le

Exactly if only one is connected it works but if one with ps4 and one with PC it doesn't work

Distributor:

So as now I plug in the lan cable that comes from the router to the distributor at the beginning and the two ends with short lan cables each to ps4 and to the pc, but if I connect the two in the same way, neither of them has a lan connection Unplug ps4.

Yes no, this is used to bring 2 4-wire cables to an 8-wire and then back to 2 4-wire. Such an adapter is completely unsuitable for your case.

You need something like this:

The thing is I want to connect the swich with a lan cable there are so swichter that you have to connect to the WLAN but I want it to connect with a lan cable and then I can connect my PC and my ps4 with the 5 ports Is it something that you connect the swicher with a LAN cable?

LAN cable from router >> to the respective plug for LAN if there are >> small LAN cables >> plug in and have internet on ps4 and PC at the same time

I'm sorry, but there are some terms that are somewhat confusing. No, there are no switches that connect to Wi-Fi. To get from Lan to Wlan, you need a network bridge. But there we're again with routers.

What you need is a simple switch. Click on my link. The fun starts at 10 euro and then all you have to do is pull a cable from your router to the switch and one cable each from the switch to the PC and the PlayStatin.

Le

So I meant it that I pull a cable from the router, connect it to the switch and then connect the PS4 and the PC with small LAN cables, but my question is

There are swichter that you have to connect to electricity and then you can already recognize the swicht and I don't want something like this I don't want it to be recognized directly via Wi-Fi I want I have laid a long cable to my room and I don't want to get it all out now do (the lan cable) so I want to connect the swichter with a lan cable and then on the swichter internet has ps4 and pc connect and zack at the same time internet without problems 😊

ti

"There are swichter you have to connect to electricity and then you recognize the swicht and I don't want something like that I don't want it to be recognized directly via Wi-Fi"

I'm sorry, I don't understand the part. However, my proposed structure corresponds exactly to your idea at the end of your contribution.

Le

I will now make a sketch for you:

LAN cable from router to my room >> connect to this device what I need >> 2 small LAN cables to PC and once to ps4 and have the same LAN connection

ti

Somehow we turn in a circle. The device must be a switch.

Like this one, for example:

Or where's the question?

Le

With what does that connect the part must somehow get internet

ti

You connect it to your router.

Le

Is this recognized directly as an example when I connect my cell phone to the WLAN or with a LAN cable?

I think rout the lan cable into the room and plug it into the device right?

ti

"Is this recognized directly, such as when I connect my cell phone to the WLAN or with a LAN cable?"

What do you mean by that? The devices send out a broadcast, the DHCP answers in the router and they get an IP address. And after that they have "Internet".

Le

Oh check it out

So I can't do anything because I put a lan kabal in the room and that doesn't help me in the room right?

ti

I'm sorry, there seems to be a language barrier here. Of course that is possible! You simply plug the cursed cable from the router into the switch, then 2 small cursed cables into the switch and one each in the Playstation and one in the PC. The devices themselves make up the rest. This is plug & play!

If it is not clear now how good is your English or maybe you speak other languages?

Le

Okey it works but the link where you sent me with the tplink where should I put it in then

Le

TP-Link TL-SG105 5-port gigabit network switch (up to 2000 Mbps in full duplex mode, shielded RJ-45 ports, metal housing, optimized data traffic, IGMP snooping, unmanaged, fanless) blue metallic https://www.amazon.de/...00A128S24/

I would like to buy it, where does the LAN cable have to plug in what comes from the router?

ti

A network cable has 2 ends. There are plugs at these ends. The proposed switch has 4 matching sockets; the router, the Playstation and the PC also have sockets. Long cable End1 with plug comes into the router. Long cable end 2 comes into switch socket 1. Short cable 1 end 1 comes into socket 2 in switch. Short cable 1 end 2 comes into the socket in the Playstation. Short cable 2 end 1 goes into socket 3 in the switch. Short cable 2 end 2 comes into the socket on the PC.

ti

Yes, that would go.

Le

So do I need a total of 3 cables?

ti

Correct!

Le

Okey thank you very much really thank you for the support 😊
