I have a question about the internet connection. And although I currently use Wi-Fi (W-LAN amplifier to extend the W-LAN of my parents to my devices, living in the same house). Now, however, glass fiber has finally been laid in our place, so I want to buy my own router or contract to get the "fastest of the fastest". The whole thing is then no longer over W-LAN, but over LAN run, so speak by cable, because faster and more stable. Now I will but (as I know from the router of my parents) only have a LAN outgoing on the router, but several devices, such as PC, Smart TV, PS4, etc. My question is now so, as I have all these devices can connect to the router at the same time, because you have to change the cable every time you change devices, I can hardly imagine, that would also logistically extremely bad, as far as the length of the cable when the devices are several meters apart. So is there a device / device that "splits" the cable, like a power distributor, just with the LAN cable? And if so, what's it called?
Your router has probably 4 LAN ports for 4 devices, if you want more you need an Ethernet switch
https://www.amazon.de/...bit+switch
The best is a Gigabit switch so you can transfer Gigabit…
Simply a port from the router into the switch and you can connect to the other ports from the switch more devices
Lan switch or simply set up a second router as a switch.
My router has 4 LAN ports
If the router has only one port (most have 4) you need a LAN switch. For example this one here:
So you want to get the 1GBit / s contract from vodafone?
Yes, probably. Do you have experience with it, so from Internet strength or reliability ago?
Okay thank you, then I've probably been with my parents.
I'll get it myself in 2 weeks at the latest. Depending on when I get my apartment. Can you then tell about it.
Ok, I just looked, thought with us the GB, because I had a corresponding flyer in the mailbox (Telekom, but then would actually be available elsewhere synonymous). But according to online availability check only 50 Mbit / s both at Telekom and at Vodafone. It probably takes another piece.
It may be that the online availability check at your address has not yet been updated. If the flyer was there, gigabit would have to be possible.
Ok, know people from the city administration, I'll talk to them.
There are also rout with only one connection, which are very small, but is not a problem then you turn on the switch to one port, and then have multiple ports
