I'm currently trying to renew the thermal paste on my old PS4 and watch a video on YouTube for instructions. When I opened it, I noticed on the motherboard (if that's the one?! 😅) that it looks merged in some places and the man in the video didn't look that way.
In the photo you can see what I mean. Is that something questionable or does it really matter? I've had the PlayStation for many years, so it was clear to me that not everything is new anymore.
Thanks in advance!
Could be questionable, again if the ps4 works again it should be good.
If you change the conductive paste, that will likely have been the problem too
Can't see anything unusual now.
If you mean the stains, it just looks like solder grease.
If that bothers you, you could theoretically remove them with water, dish soap and a toothbrush, and then let the circuit board dry for ~ 1 day.
Sure, the CPU gets so hot that it melts the circuit board in its vicinity. It switches itself off at 100 degrees, and it can't give off that much heat, even at long-term 100 degrees nothing would happen to the board.
Yes, well, possibly cold solder joints but not something like that, and that the circuit board has not melted you can see from 30 meters…
Maybe not melted, but visually damaged. It shouldn't look like that anyway
That shimmers back, will be some kind of grease, probably solder grease, even have one here, it could smear it where on it and look but that's not worth it to me xD And if the coating had what would it not look like that.
