I had to connect a DAC to my TV because it doesn't have an analog audio output and I just tested the sound… And the deep bass in a really booming film scene was simply not there.
I ran the Blu-Ray on a PS4 Pro, output via HDMI to the TV (HDMI as output device, I also checked out the bitstream options), from there via Toslink to the DAC and from there via Cinch to the stereo system.
The direct output on the PS4 sounds exactly like this.
Can someone help me?
This has nothing to do with the DA converter.
Either this bass output on the BlueRay is restricted, or you simply lack a few additional subwoofers for this deep bass sound.
Maybe your stereo is simply set incorrectly?
How about naming devices in concrete terms? Compared to which setup does your current "no booming movie scene" bring any depths?
Have you ever tested another / decent RCA / RCA cable?
I had both the speakers and the Blu-Ray before, it's not because of both…
Before that, I had a normal Blu-ray player and a smaller TV, both of which have now been replaced by newer devices. And I've already tried it out with several cinch cables.
That can be natural, but with another input on the stereo (connected to the PC) everything is completely normal!
Maybe you made settings on the PC (e.g. More bass) that you don't have on the TV?
So much for the specific naming of the devices.
In any case, good theory, only there was no "problem" with my old Blu-Ray player in an analog way.
That is funny again. What kind of DA converter is it? Maybe it's just bad or broken.
PS4 Pro
TV: Samsung RU7179 / 55 "
Stereo receiver: Yamaha RX-797
The latter can be, but it is the former… It can be good!

Usually, even such cheap devices should not falsify the sound, but I would still try a higher quality device (if the problem still occurs, you can return the more expensive device). Other solutions do not really occur to me spontaneously.
You could use the DAC to connect the headphone output to your system.
With the DAC from Billigheimer and Söhne you can read from one or the other review that the device seems to be rather medium. If the processing of the thing is bad, a high-pass filter is quickly and accidentally implemented.
Do you have a recommendation? Sure, it can also exceed 14 euro, I just thought that I would try the thing here
I compared it, it sounds a little different, but not as before via analogue (which is unfortunately no longer possible…)
Would you have a recommendation for a DA converter at a fair price? ~ 50 euro would be my pain limit for that…
In the price range, I can't give you a first-hand recommendation; I'm out of there.
