Dead By Daylight no ps4 controller support?

So I play on Steam (PC) and much prefer to play on mouse & keyboard but I have a scuf controller and would like to test deadbydaylight with a controller.

But somehow that doesn't work if I connect my controller with a battery cable or via bluetooth.

Why is that?

How do I do this?

Dead by daylight on Steam says "full controller support"

Does Steam recognize your PS4 controller in the settings?

How can I look it up?

Settings → Controller → general controller settings
