I had read that you don't get these pre-roll ads if you have Twitch Prime (i.e. The ads that come when you start a stream).
I own Twitch Prime, but I'm still getting the pre-roll ads.
Not quite but if you subscribe to a streamer with twitch prime, which is possible once a month for free, you will no longer receive any advertising with this streamer.
I have a sub with the streamer. As a result, I don't get any advertising during the stream. But before the stream, I usually get an advertisement anyway.

No, unfortunately that's wrong! You still get advertising with Twitch Prime! It was once for a while that you didn't get any advertising with Twitch Prime, but that changed about 1-2 years ago, here my source from Twitch itself: https://blog.twitch.tv/en/2018/08/20/changes-to-twitch-prime-a986f0d8c9a9/ you just don't get any advertising if you have Twitch Turbo or are a subscriber to the respective streamer.
