Best Operator Defender / Attacker?

Started with R6 and am quite okay. Sometimes good, but sometimes John Wayne. Who do you think are the best operators who also have the most advantages? I have now earned 8900 because I do not feel like wasting money again senselessly. I'm currently using the operator: Defense: Doc, Bandit. Attackers: Thermite, Ash, (sometimes Twitch). That's why I'm wondering who the two categories are. In defense my friend recommended me (a bit experienced guy) Vigil. Is it really worth it?
