Let's say Sony's PS5 only has 9 Tflops of graphics performance, but the Microsoft Xbox Series X (as now officially confirmed) has 12 Tflops of graphics performance, but Sony, on the other hand, has the higher-profile game lineup.
Which of the consoles would you buy then?
PS5 with the better games, the Xbox with the higher graphics performance?
Really, the 9 TFlops are now official? Please cite source.
I have always been in the PS camp and will not change now, regardless of what the hardware actually looks like. In general, however, one can say that the visible difference in graphics becomes smaller and smaller with increasing resolution, which is why the raw graphics performance is no longer so important. The processor is more important, and it seems to be the same for both.
I primarily get a console to play games. So what should I do with a little more performance if there are games on the other platform that I would like to play?
The confirmation was based on Xbox Series X performance: https://www.computerbase.de/2020-02/xbox-series-x-gpu-leistung/
Oh yes, I already knew that. The actual data of the PS5 would be exciting, so far there have only been rumors.
What use is the computing power if the games are not fun?
Consoles are used to entertain me with games. A comparison of the raw computing power is about as useful as the engine power in a super sports car.
Which of the consoles would you buy then?
I'm a PC player, so I will not buy the Xbox or the Playstation. However, if I had to make a decision, I would wait for the first year and then decide based on the games that have been released / announced.
Maybe the following will help you with your question:
I have an absolute high-end PC with a fast SSD, plenty of RAM and a graphics card that costs just under 1,000 euro. I have already played various games with great graphics on the PC (Metro: Exodus, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, etc.)
For me, the graphically most impressive game is and remains Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy. The animations are nowhere better and the setting and staging are absolutely cinematic. In addition, the game has one of the best stories and really fine gameplay for me.
I also think Bloodborne is extremely great, both graphically and playfully.
Both are PS exclusive titles.
Since the PC brings me nothing for over 2,000 euro.
Similar case: Zelda Breath of the Wild. I bought an extra switch for this and played the game longer and with more joy than ALL graphics cracks of the year together on the PC…
Yes. Nintendo consoles are a good comparison. Their hardware is always rather weak, but the games are just great, so people buy.
Oh what is more important. I find both important arguments.
In addition, it is not the case that there are no good exclusives on the Xbox, although the PS4 certainly has more larger brands up its sleeve. By the way, I have both a One X and a PS Pro.
But since I play everything on the One X except for the PS exclusive, I will probably get the Series X for now.
Not necessarily because of the performance, but because my entire game community is there and also all online titles and their data. I'm also looking forward to a new Halo, Forza or the flight simulator.
A PS will follow someday, but it has no priority for me at the start.
