How doesn't the Xbox One controller turn off by itself?

I like to play with friends, Formula 1 or Forza. However, on the steering wheel. Since my steering wheel has no jack connection for the headset, I have to run the headset over the controller every time. How does the controller not switch itself off? Unfortunately I didn't find anything on Google.

Goes as far as I don't know. But you can just press a button on the controller after every lap. It is annoying at the beginning but you get used to it.
