I connected my xbox one to a monitor. Can't play a sound. And the controller has no headphone connection. I also have speakers but somehow they can't connect to the cable. There's also a headphone jack on the console, but it doesn't work. What can I do other than buy the adapter?
The original Xbox One controller has a connection for headphones.

Even the 360 controllers had a headphone jack. Just because there's an Xbox logo on it doesn't mean it's an original controller. Have a look at Scuf, etc. They also have Xbox logos on them, but they are only licensed, not original.

You can connect any controller that is compatible with the One. Preferably an original one, of course. The 360 is not compatible.

If you have a One, you actually have to have an original controller too. One is always included.
An Xbox controller always has a jack.
Your monitor may have a Toslink or ARC HDMI to which you can connect any systems / headphones.
And the console itself doesn't have a headphone jack. If it is a One, it has a Toslink (optical cable).
