Ark crossplay xbox pc?

My friend and I want to play ark survival evolved but he only has the game on the PC and I on the xbox one. I've read that you can play together indirectly, but I haven't found how to do it.

He needs the Ark from the Microsoft Store, then it should work without problems.

And if he has that on epic games

If it doesn't work, you can theoretically see if you have the same options for unofficial PC worlds, otherwise I'll see black.
