COD: Play mobile with non-Playsi / X-Box controller?

I currently love to play CoD Mobile and plan to start with GTA San Andreas. So I want to buy a controller for my cell phone. However, I found out that CoD Mobile can primarily be played with PS4 or Xbox one controllers. Now my question: Can I play the game with another controller specially developed for the smartphone?

Definitely, it is actually not primarily designed for these controllers, the controller is there, as long as it can be connected to the smartphone, it also works.
