How can I use my laptop keyboard to write on my xbox?

I have my xbox with my pcmonitor as a gaming setup and my laptop next to me on the table. So far I have simply had the "xbox console companion" app on my laptop and as soon as I should / could enter something on the console, the app responded and I could write on the laptop. Since the new xbox app was released, this no longer works and the new app doesn't work.
is there another way to use the pc keyboard for xbox inputs?
