How can I join friends on Minecraft (Bedrock Edition on Windows 10)?

I play on a PC and a friend on the Xbox (Bedrock Edition). We want to play together on one of his created worlds (NO realm), but I can't join him. Then it says "World is being created" & "Server is searched" until "Connection disconnected" appears after 7 minutes. However, he can join my worlds & I can also join online servers (e.g. Mineplex).
