I've had an Xbox One for a while now, and I'm happy with it. While browsing through the internet I noticed that the next-gen console Xbox Series S at MediaMarkt / Saturn only costs 290 euro. Is it worth converting? What I've read so far speaks for it, but I also wanted to hear other people's opinions.
In any case, it is worth it, you will notice a very large power swing. The only disadvantages are: no drive.
But for the price there's really nothing cooler
The performance of the Xbox Series S is not much greater than that of the One X, which is also the reason why it is so cheap and still available when everything else is sold out.
It depends on.
The main drawbacks of the Series S are the lack of a Blue Ray drive, the small amount of storage space and that the Series S is mainly suitable for 1080p gaming.
If that doesn't pose a problem for you, it's totally worth it.
Personally, I "only" have a 1080p TV and don't play many different games on the Xbox. Resolution, storage space and the missing drive were therefore no problem for me. That's why I jumped from the One S to the Series S and I'm very satisfied. It was worth it for me.
Well, in terms of resolution, the console supports native 1440p (2K) and upscaled 4K. Even with scaled 4K, the console lives up to its raison d'etre, to be honest
Yes, it's worth it. Games run much smoother (Forza Horizon 4), especially when recording, the video is saved in 60fps this time, whereas the One only saves in 30fps despite 60fps capable games. You can finally skip some game intros (again Horizon 4 and also Halo Mcc), it is ABSOLUTELY silent, while my One X becomes a fighter jet in the same game (e.g. ME Andromeda), and you can play some (but soon many more) old games Enjoy better optics such as HDR or 60fps thanks to Auto HDR and FPS Boost.
The only downer is the low memory.
The console only has around 340gb free. In the case of next gen titles or optimized variants of a game, these must be stored on the console's internal memory or on such an extension card. With an SSD e.g. As with me, only ordinary Xbox, 360 and One games work, because I have a 2 TB SSD from Samsung, I also paid over 200 euro for it, it's a shame that the newer games just don't work on it.
And yes, as many have already said, the part doesn't have a drive either, but since I'm a digital gamer anyway, I don't care.
Oh and it has no optical audio output.
If you should ever switch to a Series X, you can still keep the Series S and take it with you as a console for visiting friends or traveling, for example I take my Series S to work every day to play one of my 100 games during the break.
If you definitely can't pay 500 euro for the Series X then yes, otherwise I would buy the much better console for 500 even if it is harder to get it
