❌Is AMD Radeon Freesync going on gaming monitor with Xbox Series X❌?

I wanted to ask if there's any point in making and using AMD Radeon Freesync on the Xbox Series X. So what are the advantages for example in Fortnite or in all games in general?

I have a LG 24GL600F gaming monitor that shows up to 120 Hertz (Hz) on the Xbox Series X through the HDMI (1.4) I brought with me.

What do I have to set on the Xbox Series X for this? What are the recommended settings?

On my gaming monitor I also turned on 1 MS Blur Motion and set Full HD with 120 Hz on the Xbox Series. I have 36 bits per pixel (12 bits), and so on…

With the gaming monitor I have Gamma 4 (I really don't see any difference between Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, but it's a bit darker than Gamma 3) and so on…

What are the best settings on your part now? For example YCC 4: 2: 2 VRR, HDR10, color space and a number of other settings… I just want to play on 120 Hz and 1080 full HD, but at the same time get the best possible out of my Xbox Series X.

It might sound a bit confusing now, but I would be very, very happy if a technology expert would explicitly explain to me or tell me what the best settings would be for the Xbox Series X and my gaming monitor to get the best out of it.

It has advantages, these would be the following:

Freesync primarily prevents tearing (i.e. Image tears) by adjusting the refresh rate, but it also creates a more fluid impression subjectively. This is most noticeable at low frame rates. The picture does not jerk when moving.

Freesync also has even more advantages, it prevents the input lag, i.e. The input delay compared to Vsync.

With Freesync 2, the tone mapping is also adjusted when using HDR, and there's an improved display for FS 2 games.

You should just set 120fps and Freesync. Otherwise everything else is actually quite secondary

So you could actually accrue anything. Whether it will bring you something is another question.

VRR is actually exclusive for HDMI 2.1, can you use it with lower HDMI versions? If so, use it. Because this saves the console computing resources. What you should perhaps activate would be ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode).

ma

First of all, a big Thank you to you!

Now I want to ask where I can set this up with the ALLM?

Ke

In the video settings of your Xbox console you will find a point that should be called video mode or something like that. There you can also, for example, switch YCC 4: 2: 2, 50Hz or Auto HDR on and off.

ma

What does this YCC 4: 2: 2 bring and do I have to enable 50 Hz and 24 Hz? Do I even need them?

Ke

This setting enables games and apps that support YCC 4: 2: 2 encoding

This can solve problems with the display of 4K content on some TVs.

I personally always switched on 50hz and 24hz, regardless of which Xbox, unfortunately I don't know what it is.

ma

Ok, thanks again for your effort and for your help!

Ke

No problem!

I have one more question, I can't activate Freesync on the Xbox or there's no option where Freesync is written. I can only activate Freesync on my monitor. How should I know if this will work on my Xbox?

Ke

But you are already using an HDMI cable without an adapter or the like?

Because that seems a bit strange to me

ma

I'm using an HDMI 1.4 port that came with the monitor

ma

Because the Xbox 2.1 hdmi cable is too crass and there's currently not a single monitor that supports 120 hz via hdmi

ma

Almost all 144 hz or more hz monitors only support this through dvi but I have found the only monitor that also supports 120 hz through hdmi! And only for 169 euro

ma

The next expensive one would be available at 300, etc.

ma

In any case, I didn't find an option to activate Freesync… Or does that mean something different on the Xbox?

ma

Sorry that I wrote so much 😅

Ke

No problem.

I was wondering why I suddenly got 10 notifications here.

Freesync should actually be declared as "Freesync" in the settings.

ma

Ok, will look again. Wish you a happy new year

Ke

Thank you, too:-)

ma

Thank you very much.
