Xbox one aux connection, chat not working?

On my xbox one controller it has the aux connection.

So there's no need to buy a separate adapter for the chat function? I got a four-pin jack cable but the microphone still doesn't go into the chat.

I also have a lot of problems with it. I have 3-pin headphones (some from Samsung) that rarely work with one controller. I always play with 2 controllers because they work with the other controller
