Nintendo Switch: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?

I will soon get a Nintendo Switch, as well as the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game. So I wanted to ask if you could play Mario Kart with a single Joy-Con, or if you needed a controller (for example the Pro Controller for the switch, or an already included intermediate part where you could use the 2 Joy-Con left and right).
I ask because if I couldn't play with a single Joy-Con I would buy more controllers so I couldn't just play alone.

Yes, you can play with a single controller, but I would recommend you buy the steering wheels because the feel is more comfortable. 😁
