Animal crossing new leaf city delete Sternis?

So, I wanted to delete my city and then sold it for 7 million Sternis, and when Melinda asked if I would like to build a new city directly or if I want to take a break, I directly re-elected, but when I was on the train at picking out my new card was not there to address me so I turned off the nintendo and did the same from the beginning, but this time I chose "Pause" and Melinda immediately deleted my city, where are my 7 million Sternis now?
