Tube TV really that bad?

I still have an old tube TV from 1981. Play on my Wii games, PS3 games, Switch games and Ps4 games.

A friend once said that was stupid and cih should buy me a sensible television.

Well, the only bad thing about a CRT is that the picture is much worse for modern consoles and generally not good for the eyes (more damaging than a TV these days).

I myself use my CRT only for retro consoles, because the picture is better there. For the rest of the HD TV is used.
