Questions about Nintendo 3DS?

I would like to buy a Nintendo 3DS in the near future, but still have some questions. Since I really have no idea of consoles (otherwise I'm a PC player), please do not require prior knowledge.

How do you get the games on the device? I've read that there's a Nintendo eShop where you can probably buy and download the games, but on Wikipedia it also says that games are delivered on DS-known game modules. How should I imagine that? Is it then possible to have only one game in the 3DS or can you install it with the modules and then call it again and again without having the module in it?
Does the 3DS have an aux connection or something comparable, so that you can play the sound on headphones or can you only play the sound loudly / not at all?
Is the Nintendo 3DS backwards compatible for DS games or maybe even earlier - say GBA and Co?
Why are the games still so expensive for the 3DS and the DS? Will they be cheaper or should they be bought on certain sites where they are cheap? In the Nintendo eShop all Pokémon parts cost (and Pokémon is the most important to me) even more than 40 euro, although some are really old and the DS parts are not in the Nintendo eShop.

To 1: You can download the games from the eshop - then you always have the game on the console and do not have to change any modules. If you buy the game physically in the trade then you always have to leave the game module in the console if you want to play (so only one goes)

To 2, I can't help unfortunately because I do not know what that is for a connection

To 3: Nintendo DS games go, everything older is not more.

To 4: supply and demand. The games are still popular, and accordingly expensive. I recommend just a few used to buy, then it is also cheaper

Thanks for the helpful and quick answer. At 2, I just meant a headphone jack, as you know, for example, from the phone.

Dr

1.

You can buy games in the eshop. To do this, you get in the store a credit card and charge your account. The games will then be installed on the SD card

or

you buy the cardridges. Whenever you want to play another game, you have to change the card.

2. A headphone output is available.

3. Is backwards compatible with DS-Games. Gba games & Co. Can be bought in the eshop.

4. No plan. Best always buy used on ebay.

Thanks for the helpful answer.

Can the Nintendo eShop account easily with Paypal o.Ä. Connect

To 1.
The Nintendo 3DS has an internal memory. On this you can install games from the Nintendo eShop. These can then be played anytime. On the start screen are then the icons of the installed games, over which you can start them.
If you do not want to buy the games digitally you can buy them in physical form. Then the games are on a small memory card, which you put in the device. Only one of these memory cards can be inserted in the device. So if you want to play another game you have to insert the correspondingly different memory card.

To 2.
The Nintendo 3DS has a 3.5 mm jack connection for headphone or the like. So like a cell phone or a PC.

To 3.
With the Nintendo 3DS you can also play Nintendo DS games.
In Nintendo eShop are also a few classics of e.g. Gameboy (e.g., Pokémon Red and Blue) or Game Boy Color (e.g., Pokémon Gold and Silver) are available for download.
The Nintendo DS still had the ability to read the memory cards from the Game Boy Advance, the 3DS but was waived.

To 4.
The Nintendo games have always been more expensive. Is partly the same with other consoles. Sometimes one comes at Sale Actions cheaper to the games.

Thanks for the great answer.

How many games fit approximately on the memory card, if one buys those from the eShop?

Dr

https://www.paypal.com/...shop-cards

Here you can buy the codes.

Whether it is directly in the eshop, I can tell you in about 30 minutes more accurately.

sh

Perfect that would be enough.

Zy

Depends on the size of the games. You can expand the memory of the Nintendo 3DS but with an SD card.

Pokémon Red requires e.g. 81 blocks while a 3DS game requires over 10,000 blocks. (Nintendo is unfortunately not available with reasonable file sizes).

My 16 GB SD card would have to have over 100,000 blocks.

Al

Theoretically, the 3DS is also compatible with GBA games the hardware is able to play the games without emulation and the corresponding software to realize this has been installed by Nintendo only the module slot is missing.

The reason that it is not working for most users is that Nintendo does not want to release the GBA games for sale in the eShop and only makes certain users accessible through the Ambassador program.

However, with some technical knowledge, you can use backward compatibility.

Al

Unfortunately, GBA games can't be purchased in the eShop because Nintendo simply does not want to release them for sale and only makes them available to certain users as part of the Ambassador program.

If you want to use the GBA mode you need some technical knowledge.

Dr

My mistake. ^^

GB, GBC, NES and SNES Games are available on the new 3ds family.

Paypal can't be bought directly in the eshop.

sh

All right.

sh

OK. Thank you. Can't you pull the games from the GBA modules to the 3DS SD card with any adapter or something like that? Or do not such adapters exist?

Zy

Have googled something again. One block should be 128 kilobytes in size.

sh

Did not even know that 3DS Games are so small… But I think I'll get most of the games as a module after all. Then you can put the original packaging also beautiful on the shelf

po

In addition, the note: the 3DS comes WITHOUT charging cable therefore. You have to buy a charging cable separately!

sh

Thanks for the hint.

What does he need for a connection? Can you just take a normal microUSB or something similar usual.

Incidentally, I have now decided for a 2DS XL because I do not mind the 3D option but I guess that's the same, right?

Al

But it is for this you would have your 3ds first provided with a custom firmware that is completely legal in itself and also legal purposes such as z.b. The removal of the regional dam has.

Then you would need for the legal way:

The GBA game you want to play on your 3ds
A Nintendo DS or DS Lite
A flash card used to run the GBA Backup Tool
A PC with which you can convert the Rom via the tool "New Super Ultimate Injector" into an installable .cia file

sh

Can't theoretically just download the ROMs and then pack them on the SD (which is logically illegal)?

According to the Rome pages, this is even legal if you have a real version but who believes it…

po

Connection is equal to the 2DS usually not hinged btw. Nintendo has its own. Even the switch needs a special USB port, because others put the thing out of service. - Own experience.

sh

OK thank you

New Nintendo 2DS XL Black + Turquoise https://www.amazon.de/...071NJBW3J/

Is there maybe a difference with this offer?

This is the power adapter included, although it is the official product of Nintendo.

Or is another cable needed to charge the device?

If so, I find many offers on Amazon, where a charging cable for DSi, 3DS, 3DS XL New 3DS (XL), 2DS and 2DS XL is for sale, however, is from the New 2DS (XL never talk, what surprised me Cable so synonymous for the New 2DS XL?

Eg

I would advise you to the New 2DS XL,

the costs with power supply (which this time is with) about 150 euro. New is therefore a stronger and more powerful console over the normal 3DS or 2DS and has a flip-flop what the 2DS did not have. New has a more powerful processor and compared to the normal 3DS even 128 MB of RAM, the normal 3DS has only 64 MB work safely.

Because of this it is even possible to buy old Pokemon parts for about 10 euro in the Nintendo e-shop and Minecraft or Xenoblade only go to New.

All games where 3DS or New 3DS is on it go with the New 2DSXL also go all DS games

There are games as modules and it is only a 3DS or DS module at a time. You can load the games in the Nintendo E-Sop. A 4GB Micro SD card is already inserted but I would recommend you a 32GB, the cost so not so much if you want to buy much in the e-shop a lot. So all games will be saved on the Micro SD card. In the e-shop, there are also many demos to load, so you can test the games first.

Backward compatible to the DS

The Nintendo handheld consoles are always one generation backward compatible

Ancient Gameboy and Gameboy Color games go on the Gameboy Advance and Advance SP

Gameboy Advance games go on the DS and DS-i

and DS games go on the 3DS and 2DS the XL and New versions
