Nintendo Switch on TV without the original charging cable?

Unfortunately I lost the original charging cable for my Switch, but then bought a new one (not the original Nintendo) but every time I want to play on the TV, it tells me that I need the original cable included in the package… Is there any tricks I can handle this with? I find such a simple charging cable totally expensive and unnecessary!

Nintendo is a money sack club, so it's no wonder they code their hardware to keep the competition out. Just like Apple. Anyone who buys from such companies must know what they are doing.

The problem will probably not be with the missing "Nintendo" label.

It is more likely to be due to the performance or the lack of performance.

The original switch power supply offers 5V with up to 1.5A and 15V with up to 2.6A.

The 5V (7.5W) are used to charge the switch battery. The 15V (39W) are used for the docking station operation. There the docking station itself needs power, the switch itself allows more power and the peripherals must be supplied with power.

Whether the power supply used delivers up to 2A or up to 2.6A at 15V is probably of secondary importance. The 15V should be important. At maximum current there will definitely be some air.

A USB power delivery network that supports 15V (!) Should also do its job on the switch docking station. The power supplies are not cheap either.

If you have a laptop that charges via USB Type-C, you could try the power adapter. It could be that it is not compatible as it "only" supports 20V and not 15V.

I strongly assume that you are currently using a standard cell phone charger. It is very likely that it will only support 5V or it will not support USB Power Delivery. It is more than sufficient for charging the switch, but not for docking station operation.

How is this coded? Any charging cable with a suitable voltage can be used on the switch!

The question mentioned by the FS clearly speaks against it. This in connection with the fact that cables can be coded and that is not even uncommon with USB, since you can announce the capabilities of the cable to the connected devices, lead me to the assumption that Nintendo did something in this direction Has.
