In sun and moon as well as Ultrasonne and Ultramond there's currently this island migration, which I personally also celebrate! But since these were the last editions for Nintendo DS. Do I have to create a switch as a Pokemon fan, which does not bother me, because I'm very flexible.
I heard that Pokemon fans were fooled by Pokemon Pikachu and Evoli.
I know there will soon be Pokemon Sword and Shield. And tbh I think I renounce the current switch game and get me shield or sword.

Well, the two latest editions are also just a remake of red, yellow and blue. After fire red and leaf green. If you already know these games, you can save on Let's Go Pikachu / Evoli.

The two games are not so easy to compare, Lets Go Pikachu is nothing new in content, but from the game mechanics ago. Do you have to look where your priority is? By and large, the reaction from critics and players was very positive. I'll get both of them myself. Heavy and shield will not appear until the end of the year anyway, and lets go for ~ 30 euro. For long-term games that's okay.

Also in Pokémon fire red and leaf green travel (GBA) or since you seem to have a 3DS, you can also play there Virtual Console versions of red, blue and yellow or in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver (DS, but also runs on the 3DS) you can go to Kanto after completing the story.
