I have a Nintendo Switch for which I have an account with NNID. Now I want to download a game from the eShop on my Nintendo 2DS XL. I don't have a Nintendo Account for the 2DS XL. Should I create a second one for my DS? If so: How do I do it so that the credit also runs through this account? I can't find any login area in the eShop on my DS. I have neither a Nintendo Account nor an SD card for the DS. If I leave it at that and the console breaks, will my game status and purchase be completely gone?
Nintendo Switch uses the Nintendo Account and the 3DS the NNID. If your Nintendo Account is linked to the NNID and credits are also summarized, you can shop as normal with the 2DS in the eShop. The Nintendo Account was only introduced with Nintendo Switch, so the 3DS family naturally doesn't have one.
Thanks for the answer. I was just trying to merge the credit on the switch but I keep getting a message that my NNID is not linked to my Nintendo Account. Can you explain to me how I link account and ID?

I checked it out myself. It is really well explained there. I also followed the steps closely, but whenever I try to log in with my ID and password to link, it says that the password or ID is incorrect. I entered it correctly. Do you know what that could be?

Thank you for your help. I had to create a new NNID on my DS and then use it to log in. Now the credit of my switch is also on my DS, i.e. The credit has now been merged.
