I've been thinking of getting a New Nintendo 2ds xl. The device came out 2 years ago and is a bit old. I wanted to ask you if it would be a good idea to buy a New Nintendo 2ds xl in 2020. Will games still be released for the console? Is there still an active community? Is it worth it?
Thank you in advance!
I wouldn't do it. No more games come out for the 3DS. Maybe you could buy a hackable 3DS and play old classics for Lau. But nee⦠The switch is a priority at Nintendo
I would only buy the device as a replacement for a defective one
Otherwise Switch or Switch Lite
I can only advise against.
I mean, that's a good console, but it just won't work with the modern age 2020. Even in 2019, the sales figures for these consoles and the games fell significantly, as everyone switched to the Switch.
In my opinion, it is simply no longer worth buying a 2-year-old Nintendo 2ds xl for which games are no longer available. And the graphics of these no longer do justice to the current ones, there are definitely better things.

But you have to consider that it only costs 100 euro. I don't want to spend much either. The graphics don't matter to me.
The Switch costs 300 euro and the Switch Lite 210 euro. But I don't want to spend that much money. The new 2ds xl only costs 100 euro.
The usual argument "games are no longer developed for this." is not an argument against a purchase, on the contrary. Because the 3DS is "dead" you have a huge range of games available from the start. You no longer have to wait for new developments to have something to play with, but you have the unlimited choice.
Ultimately, only one thing matters: the games. If there are 3DS games you want to play then buy a 3DS. The devices are no longer too expensive, another advantage of this dead platform.
I recently bought a New 2DS XL myself. Admittedly, this only served as a replacement for the heavily worn 3DS XL that I already owned, but in the end it makes no difference.
OK thanks. Really helped me.

Games don't come. The 3DS is already 9 years old. If you know of any games that you would like, then it is also worth buying the handheld. I would personally recommend installing Homebrew on your 2DS. It just adds that little bit extra and you can have custom backgrounds or use cheats (or play games on an emulator). So there are cool things you can do with it. It's up to you whether it's worth it. Since no new games are coming, the device has lost a bit of its charm (I think), since you know that nothing new will come and the device is almost dead. But you can still have a lot of fun with it. It's still pretty classy on the go and you don't have to play annoying and bad games on your phone while you're on the train, for example. With a little luck, the 2DS will even fit in your pocket. At least that's how it was with the original 3DS that a buddy had. As far as I know there's still an active modding community, so it's worth a look there. Hopefully you will make a decision soon. If you want to know anything else, just ask!
Thanks for the answer. I'm considering it!
