Who has more rights?

The situation is as follows: We both have a Nintendo Switch and it's about who can keep it if either of us moves out. We use the console equally. My brother is of the opinion that the one who leaves home first has less right to the console and I'm of the opinion that both have the same right. The whole thing is more of a moral discussion, but from a moral point of view, in my opinion, nobody has more rights to it. I would like to hear your opinion on this.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: It was a gift from our parents and they let us decide who should keep them

Who paid for the thing?

ro

Who paid for the Nintendo Switch? If one of you: Then the person has the right to it. If both in equal parts: Neither has a higher standard. There's no "moral" claim just because if in doubt it moves out first.

Le

Who bought this and is legally the owner?

Mi

Nothing to add correctly!

Except that it was asked for quite explicitly.

"The whole thing is more of a moral discussion, but from a moral point of view, in my opinion, nobody has more rights to it."

Then your parents have the last word in the discussion.

Cl

For me that would be part of "at home"; Maybe also of "childhood", which you leave behind a bit at home. So I would agree with the brother that in the sense that the person who moves out has less right to take them with them. But if one day both of them will move out, this is a completely different situation and I could no longer agree with your brother's "principle".

Then I see it as a "family toy" and it stays in the house when someone leaves.

st

I see it less as a family play move

Ba

My god, then triggers or plays for it.

I would say the parents bought the console, so it stays in the home.
You can also take turns or lend the device again and again.

Nobody really is "right", but I understand the reasoning of your brother.

If you move out, you will usually start with something new (training, studies, job). First you don't have the time to play a lot and secondly you have money to buy it new or even buy a better version.

But I have no idea how much it costs (100 euro? 200 euro? 400 euro?)

I also moved out first and left everyone at home what was otherwise used in my old children's room by me and my sibling (was also older than me). It was even the case that we always paid half / half (so not from parents), such as TV, VCR.

Morally speaking, I would leave it there. And if your brother moves out, it stays with the parents and you can gamble together when you visit the parents together.

Fl

A switch costs 315 euro and the games about 60 euro

Su

Our TV set back then also cost 300 euro and everyone paid 150 euro (14 and 17 a lot of money) and still left it there. So I stick to my answer.
