Why does PS1 game always get stuck in exactly the same place?

Moinsen I'm a bit perplexed.

My beloved Breath of Fire 3 (for the PS1 console) always stays in the same place

hanging on my PS2.

I cleaned the CD thoroughly several times, cleaned the console as well, cleaned the laser.

Now bought a new game of the same title where the CD is scratch-free. Also hangs in exactly the same place…

Other Playstation 1 and 2 titles work smoothly.

Now our guess that it may be due to the memory card even though the memory of the other PS1 games are loaded without problems.

I would have to test the latter.

Try another memory card (or none at all).

Do you have another Ps1? This may be one of the few cases where the game does not run 100% on the PS2 (there are definitely some).
