PS4 download and copy in retired mode?

If I copy an update file in retired mode, does the copy go faster?

I'm not sure if the PS4 is copying at all in sleep mode. I tried at least once and when I started the PS4 again after about 30 minutes, the copying process started again, even though it was already at 60%.
